Madonna’s concert in France on Thursday ended with boos and slurs as fans openly showed their disappointment with rage despite her being crowned the "Greatest Woman In Music" by VH1 early this year.
After the singer performed just 45 minutes at Paris’ l’Olympia, the crowd began chanting “salope” – the French word for “slut” – and throwing bottles onstage.
The fans, many of whom had camped out overnight for tickets, were furious that the show — a last-minute and more intimate addition to her “MDNA” tour— was much shorter than her other performances.
A number of concertgoers, who paid hundreds of dollars for their seats, continued their protests outside the venue, yelling “remboursez,” meaning “refund,” while others took to Twitter to complain that the abbreviated performance wasn’t worth the price of admission.
Madonna is the best-selling female rock artist of the 20th century and the second top selling female artist in the United States, with 64 million certified albums.
In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked her at number two, behind only The Beatles, on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists, making her the most successful solo artist in the history of the chart. She was also inducted into theRock and Roll Hall of Fame in the same year.
